If you missed class on Wednesday, or Thursday, or Friday, or all, please start here.  If you were here and done with this section, please scroll down.

Lesson Plan for Wednesday, March 7th, 2018

  • Email Mr. Gross at [email protected] from your school email address. Be sure you use the one you will be handing in assignments from.  The subject line should be: Your Name and Digital Media (2) 2017-18
  • Fill in the Survey as completely and honestly as possible and send.
  • Follow the instructions on the picture below to sign into Remind for school delays & closings from Mr. Gross.
  • Click HERE to access the Google folder for Digital Media Communications A (2) 2017-18.  Please download the folder to your GDrive account.
  • Log into Moodle and be sure you see Digital Media A (3) in your class list.  If not, let Mr. Gross know so he can enter you.
  • In Moodle feel free to start your Classroom Syllabus & Rules Quiz.
  • Done with the Syllabus & rules Quiz?  Try the Portfolio Lesson! It will help you get your portfolio started!
  • You should have access to Social Media by now. Please friend me on FaceBook, Twitter, SnapChat, Instagram.  If you do not have these please create the accounts ASAP. My user name is usually jgross811.  Otherwise use the folder in GDrive for Social Media Share.
    • If you were on the class list BEFORE Tuesday, you should be able to get access when you log into your school accounts on the Chrome Books.
  • Finished?  Awesome!  Grab a group of people and have some one start a GDoc in GDrive.  Come up with as many problems with Social Media as you possibly can.  We will use these to discuss in class and try and find some solutions.  Be sure and share it with me at [email protected].

Lesson Plan for Thursday, March 8th, 2018

  • Okay!  Lots to do today! First you have some choices today.  They are as follows:
    • Have our sub (Should be Mrs. Moeggenberg) number you off by five.  There will be five groups to come up with a 90 second Public Service Announcement that makes the world a better place.
      • That world can be school, home, community, state-wide, nation-wide, or world-wide.
      • You may use any devices/apps/programs to shoot, edit, produce it.  Keeping it super simple is shooting on a phone and loading to YouTube and using the editing tool right in youtube.
      • What can you come up with mostly on your own?  Brainstorm?  Awesome Idea? And I always have prizes for the best one(s)!
    • Second, you may choose to do a FaceBook analysis of someone's page.  Please start with mine.
      • Scroll through my page and make some notes.  What is its personality?  The 'feel' you get from it? What is it you like?  Dislike?  What are my page strengths?  Weakness? What stands out?  What could I do without? Something else? What posts get shared/liked/loved the most?
      • Do not be afraid of helping me get better.  I am always looking to improve and want input.
      • Then when you have time, do the same through your own FB page.  Self analysis is a very good way to improve! Employers will always be checking your social media! Make it a good one!
    • Third, I am looking to see who can find the BEST way to do screencasting on a computer and on a phone or tablet.
      • Search around see what you can find.  Try them.  Make a few.  Teach me a quick lesson on "How to...".
      • We will be using these later to complete projects so find one(s) that are easy to use and effective.
      • I will be asking for these on Tuesday.
    • Lastly, feel free to start reading the books in the folders.  Read a chapter or two from iY Generation or Powerfriending.  Make note of what you find interesting and would like to present to class.  Click HERE to access the folder.

Lesson Plan for Friday, March 9th, 2018

  • Okay All!  An 'easy' Friday for you!
  • Feel free to go back to Thursday's plan and continue/finish up the work you have.
  • Next, I am looking for the BEST videos out there that deal with: (Look for ones under five minutes in length)
    • Millennials and how they are perceived.  Can you find me one?
    • Teenagers and their technology addictions.
    • The ever changing world of technology for the year 2017 to the present and the future
    • What can you find? You may work alone or in a group of up to five.
    • Copy the links and send me one (1) email with link(s) and all of the names of members
  • Finally, I want the WORST app out there on the market right now and why it is the worst.
    • Take a look around.  Find a few.  Pick one and prove to me why it is the worst.
    • Again email me the app/link/names of people involved.

Monday, March 12th Lesson

  • I miss you people!  I WILL be back on Tuesday!
  • To continue from Friday (I only got about four responses):
    • I am looking for the BEST videos out there that deal with: (Look for ones under five minutes in length)
    • Also, I want the WORST app out there on the market right now and why it is the worst.
      • Take a look around.  Find a few.  Pick one and prove to me why it is the worst.
      • Again email me the app/link/names of people involved.
    • And a new twist...  I want the number one app you cannot live without.
      • What is is it?
      • Why is it so important to you?
      • Does it have any negative side?
      • You may work in groups of similar interest if you like.
      • Please email me with your responses and  a link to the app itself

In a world of test scores, content standards & benchmarks, and evaluation fears, sometimes the main purpose can be pushed aside, even forgotten.  That is the kids.  Plain and simple they are the heart of what we do.  Let me be the reminder...
